JENIFER ETUH FOUNDATION EMPOWERS WOMEN IN KADUNA STATE WITH INNOVATIVE SKILLS TRAINING

Over 1,010 women in Jema’a and Kaura local government areas of Kaduna State have benefited from the Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) project initiated by the Jenifer Etuh Foundation (JEF) in partnership with the Baya Foundation. The project aims to empower women and young girls through education, healthcare, and skills acquisition.

The orientation and sensitization program, held at the Throne Room Trust Ministries Auditorium in Kafanchan, had the theme “Health for All, Hunger for None.” Comrade Mobolaji Adesonya, Project Coordinator for the Kaduna WEE Project, emphasized the importance of empowering women to improve their production output and contribute to society. He encouraged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity to acquire new skills and make a positive impact in their households.

The program manager, Joe Otu, explained that the project is part of a consortium of organizations funded by the Baya Foundation to promote women’s economic empowerment in Kaduna State. He urged the women to cooperate and make the most of the training, which is designed to increase their economic growth and improve their lives.

The facilitators, including Mrs. Kim Alison, covered topics such as sack farming, land tenure systems, insecurity, storage facilities, financial management, and skills acquisition training for economic development. The project aims to train 400 farmers in handmade sanitary pads, tailoring, shoe making, hairdressing, and catering services.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn new skills and innovations that will improve their lives. Each beneficiary will also have the chance to bring a household member to benefit from the training, making a total of two beneficiaries per household.

The Jenifer Etuh Foundation is implementing a scalable entrepreneurial approach to increase the income and agency of low-income women in Sub-Saharan Africa. The project aims to create a sustainable ecosystem of strong social enterprises that support women farmers and generate income for women and women cooperatives.
