In a strong appeal to safeguard democratic norms, the Lagos Society for Good Governance (LSGG), a non-partisan civic organization, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to urgently intervene in what it describes as an “alarming trend of unconstitutional tenure elongation” across several Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State.
The group raised concerns over what it termed systematic attempts by certain LCDA chairpersons to sidestep constitutional term limits, warning that the ongoing practices threaten to erode the state’s democratic foundations.
In a detailed statement signed by its Coordinator, Ademola Gafar, the LSGG cited specific cases including Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA, Onigbongbo LCDA, and Ikosi Isheri LCDA, where vice chair
