AYCF LAUDS MATAWALLE FOR TAKING A STAND AGAINST INCITING COMMENTS

By Victoria Nwosu

The Arewa Youths Consultative Forum (AYCF) has expressed its full support for the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, in his recent warning against the use of inflammatory rhetoric, particularly when directed at prominent figures such as Rotimi Amaechi.

The AYCF believes that Matawalle’s actions signify a crucial step towards holding individuals accountable for their actions and maintaining the rule of law in the nation.

In a statement by its President General, Yerima Shettima, the AYCF averred that, in a time where political tensions are high and divisive rhetoric is prevalent, it is essential for leaders like Minister Matawalle to speak out against language that seeks to incite violence or destabilize the country.

“By condemning inflammatory rhetoric, Matawalle is sending a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated and that those who engage in it will face consequences. The AYCF commended Minister Matawalle for his bold stance and believes that his actions are in the best interest of the nation.

“It is imperative that leaders at all levels of government take a firm stand against any form of speech that could lead to violence or civil unrest. By upholding the rule of law and holding individuals accountable for their actions, we can work towards a more peaceful and united Nigeria.

“Nigeria, a nation of diverse ethnicities and political viewpoints, requires a delicate balance to maintain peace and stability. Recent pronouncements by Amaechi and other certain political figures have threatened this equilibrium, prompting concerns about incitement and the potential for widespread unrest.

“While healthy political discourse and opposition are essential for a thriving democracy, deliberate incitement to violence crosses an unacceptable line. The comments attributed to Rotimi Amaechi, intended to incite violence or unrest, are a serious threat to national security.

“Such actions undermine the democratic process, sow seeds of discord among citizens, and can lead to catastrophic consequences, including loss of life and property. Nigeria’s government, in its responsibility to protect its citizens, must not tolerate such deliberate attempts to incite chaos from any individual or group, irrespective of their political standing.

“The law must be applied equally to all. Minister Matawalle’s bold stance deserves commendation. His decision to publicly address the issue and call out individuals perceived to be inciting violence is a necessary and courageous act.

“It demonstrates a commitment to maintaining peace and upholding the principles of justice. By directly challenging those who might feel above the law, Matawalle sets a powerful precedent. His actions serve as a stark reminder that no one is exempt from accountability, regardless of their past political positions or influence.

“It sends a strong message that the government will not stand idly by while individuals deliberately fan the flames of discord. Such firm stance is crucial not only for maintaining immediate peace but also for setting a standard of responsible political conduct.

“Nigeria’s strength lies in its unity and diversity. This unity is threatened when individuals prioritize personal gain or political ambition over the well-being of the nation.

“The Arewa Youths Consultative Forum unequivocally supports Minister Matawalle’s call for calm and his firm stance against political incitement. We believe that his actions are not only necessary but also crucial for safeguarding the peace and stability of Nigeria”.

He emphasized that the government must show its commitment to upholding the rule of law by addressing any instance of incitement to violence, regardless of the perpetrator’s political standing.

“We urge all political actors to engage in responsible and peaceful discourse, prioritize national unity, and work together to build a better future for all Nigerians. The nation’s future hinges on our collective responsibility to maintain peace and uphold the principles of justice and fairness”.

Amaechi’s Attacks on Tinubu;Group expresses concern for no response

All Progressives Congress Support Vanguard(APCSV) has faulted the failure on side appointed aides to respond to former Minister of Transportation and former Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi over alleged incitement of anarchy against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

According to the Support group, it is unfair for Party members, especially appointed aides to pretend not understand the implications of such vituperation from Amaechi and others in recent time with no response from them .

The APC Support Vanguard, which states this in a statement made available to journalists today, observed that, “Aside the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, who issued a warning to the former Minister of Transportation, over what he described as reckless and inciting statements regarding the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, we are yet to see other that rose in his defense of the Tinubu “.

In the statement signed by the Chairman , Abdullahi Mohammed Tofa , the group said the former Minister of Transportation warning that President Bola Tinubu will not relinquish power to the younger generation without resistance and pushing for alleged do-or-die election is dangerous to our existence as a people .

The statement further reads ,”For anyone to make public statements such as, “If you think Tinubu will just give you power, you are wasting your time”, is nothing but,an incitement. And seeing majority of his aides main sealed lips leave a lots to be worried about.

“We Recalled how same Amaechi in 2024 questioned the preparedness of President Bola Tinubu on the removal of the fuel subsidy and returning again in 2025 to say the political class, including President Bola Tinubu, would not willingly cede power to the younger generation.

“We are not against criticism of any sort, but let it be such that will be constructive and not overheat the polity .” It stated .

While noting that the aides can’t claim not to understand the erroneous signals being sent to the public and the subtle push for anarchy ahead of the 2027 general elections, the group said ,”As concerned support group, who are disturbed about the unwarranted attacks on Tinubu within the party hierarchy such as; Amaechi and Elrufai, we call on appointees ,the party structure and friends of the President to reply Amaechi immediately and put the records straight.”

Apex Igbo Group  Condemns Amaechi’s Incendiary Remarks, Backs Matawalle’s Stance

By Bin Audi Abbass

The Apex Igbo Sociocultural Organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has responded to the alarming and incendiary remarks made by Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the former Governor of Rivers State and former Minister of Transport, against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement issued by the Deputy President General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Ohanaeze condemned Amaechi’s call for Nigerians to resort to “brutal force” to snatch power from President Tinubu, stating that it contravenes the principles of civility, democracy, and peace.

Ohanaeze also denounced Amaechi’s assertion that politicians must be willing to “steal, maim, and kill” to retain power, saying it diminishes the dignity of political discourse and poses a threat to society.

The organisation expressed concern that Amaechi’s rhetoric could incite unrest and mobilize youth toward violent actions, plunging the nation into chaos.

Ohanaeze distanced itself from Amaechi’s statements, emphasizing that the Igbo people will never endorse any political conspiracy aimed at undermining the legitimacy of an elected President.

The organisation lent its support to the position articulated by the Minister of State for Defence, H.E. Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawelle, calling for Amaechi to retract his statements and cease from further inciting the populace.

Ohanaeze also announced its intent to mobilize and galvanize the Igbo population residing in the nineteen Northern States to stand firmly alongside Dr. Bello Matawelle and ensure President Tinubu’s victory in the forthcoming elections.

The organisation called for robust measures to monitor and thwart any attempts to incite disorder and emphasized that those found guilty of treasonous actions must face severe penalties, irrespective of their political connections or influence.

Ohanaeze reiterated its unwavering allegiance to President Tinubu, stating that there shall be no support from the Igbo for any coalition of opposition leaders plotting against the sitting President.

CSO Condemns Use of ‘Illegal IGP’ by Sowore to Denigrate Nigeria Police Boss

Calls for Support for Police’s Efforts to Combat Crimes, Terrorism

The Concerned Citizens for Justice and Rule of Law, a civil society organisation, has strongly condemned the use of the term “illegal IGP” by Omoyele Sowore to denigrate the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

The group described Sowore’s actions as a well-orchestrated distraction campaign aimed at diverting attention from the progress being made in ensuring national security.

According to Comrade Kabir Matazu, spokesperson for the group, Sowore’s attacks on the IGP are part of a broader agenda to weaken Nigeria’s institutions and make it easier for his foreign sponsors to control the national narrative.

Matazu emphasised that Sowore’s tactics are not accidental but rather a deliberate attempt to undermine the country’s corporate integrity and national sovereignty.

The group praised the IGP’s leadership, highlighting the significant reduction in violent crimes, including kidnappings, armed robbery, and terrorism-related incidents.

They also commended the IGP’s commitment to community policing initiatives, which have strengthened trust between the police and citizens.

“We take this moment to also condemn in its entirety the baseless and malicious attacks being launched against the IGP by Omoyele Sowore, a well-known agent of chaos and misinformation,” the statement said.

“It is clear to us that his paymasters who are uncomfortable with the progress being made in crime reduction under this administration have once again mobilized him to undermine the security apparatus of our great nation.

“Nevertheless, let it be known that Nigeria is not a playground for anarchists, and the rule of law will always prevail over the antics of mischief-makers like Sowore.

“Undoubtedly, the IGP has brought a new era of professionalism and effectiveness to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). Unlike some who blow their own trumpets at the slightest achievement, IGP Egbetokun has quietly and meticulously implemented strategic reforms that have significantly curbed crime.

“Apparently, his leadership has witnessed a marked reduction in violent crimes, including kidnappings, armed robbery, and terrorism-related incidents. Furthermore, community policing initiatives which he broadly enacted have helped to strengthen trust between the police and citizens, ensuring better cooperation in intelligence gathering.

“Despite these laudable achievements, the IGP has chosen modesty over self-glorification. A rare trait which we see as the  mark of a true leader; one who is fully driven by duty rather than personal acclaim.

“However, it is no surprise that Omoyele Sowore and his paymasters are displeased with the prospect of Nigeria successfully getting a grip on crime-fighting. His unwarranted attacks on the IGP are part of what we believe to be a well-orchestrated distraction campaign aimed at diverting attention from the tremendous progress being made in ensuring national security.”

The group, however, lambasted Sowore, describing him as a professional protest organiser, an agent of destabilisation, and a mouthpiece for those who wish to keep Nigeria in perpetual crisis.

They accused him of inciting anarchy, spreading falsehoods, and misleading the public through his biased online platform, Sahara Reporters.

The group urged Nigerians not to be swayed by Sowore’s antics, emphasising that he is fighting for his own interests rather than the welfare of the people. They also called on the Judiciary to allow the law to take its full course, stating that no one is above justice.

The Concerned Citizens for Justice and Rule of Law reaffirmed their full support for the IGP, urging him not to be distracted by Sowore’s attacks.

When in power,he practiced tyranny, when out of power he is preaching democracy;Shehu Sani slams Elrufai.

The former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial zone , Senator Shehu Sani took a swipe at former Kaduna Governor,Mal Nasir Elrufai over his recent political comments of ,” Illiterates In Leadership Position”.

According to Shehu Sani, Elrufai in power practiced tyranny, but out of power he preaches democracy.

Former Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, had accused his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), of abandoning its founding principles and fostering poor leadership, saying “You cannot afford to have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people as your leaders. This is why we end up with the poor leadership we have today,”

But in a reaction to Elrufai’s comments, Senator Shehu Sani via a telephone interview said ,”The man with a history of undisguised intolerance to opposition and hypersensitive allergy to criticisms have no moral and saintly feet to stand on the pulpit of democracy to preach about good governance.

While stating that Elrufai is like a man who is turned down by a woman and resorted to speaking ill of her, he posited that ,”If Nasiru is in a Keke napep, he will call it a Lamborghini; if he is thrown out of the Lamborghini,he will call it a Keke Napep.

He demonised the opposition when in the palace and now embracing them when in the wilderness.

According to him , today Tinubu’s Government is led by illiterates, because they refused to hire Professor Nasiru, who left behind a heap of garbage in kaduna and now preaching hygiene in Nigeria

Arewa Group Disowns Bala Mohammed Over Criticism of Tinubu’s Economic Reforms

Mike Odeh James

… Accuses El-Rufai and Third Force Advocates of Undermining Northern Unity

The Arewa Youth Leaders and Professionals Forum (AYLPF) has distanced itself from Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed over his criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, labeling his actions as detrimental to the unity and progress of northern Nigeria.

Speaking during a press conference on Monday, the AYLPF National President, Abdulahi Bilal Mohammed, accused Governor Bala Mohammed of pursuing a self-serving agenda, characterizing his opposition to the reforms as a desperate attempt to protect corrupt practices that have benefited him and his associates.

“Governor Bala Mohammed’s stance is not driven by genuine concern for Nigeria’s development but reflects his disdain for national unity and the trust placed in him by the people of Bauchi State and the country at large,” Bilal Mohammed stated.

The AYLPF also took aim at former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, describing him as politically irrelevant and disconnected from the aspirations of Nigerians.

“El-Rufai’s recent clandestine moved demonstrate his detachment from the realities and priorities of the Nigerian people,” said Bilal Mohammed, adding that his alleged alliance with promoters of a third force represents an effort to undermine the interests of northern Nigeria.

The group accused El-Rufai and other third force advocates of pursuing divisive and selfish agendas aimed at exploiting the region for personal gain.

The Arewa group called on patriotic Nigerians to reject divisive leaders and rally behind President Tinubu’s administration, which it described as committed to the progress and development of the country.

“The voices of division and selfishness must be silenced. We urge all Nigerians to support the economic reforms of President Tinubu’s administration, which are aimed at ensuring national growth and prosperity,” the group concluded.

The statement partly reads: “Firstly, Let us begin with Governor Bala Mohammed. His recent statements and actions are a clear indication of his disdain for the unity and progress of Nigeria. His opposition to President Tinubu’s reforms is not rooted in any genuine concern for the nation, but rather, a desperate attempt to cling to the corrupt practices of the past that have benefited him and his cronies.

“His actions have proven to be another emblem of trust betrayal placed in him by the people of Bauchi State and Nigeria at large. Apparently, El-Rufai, on the other hand, is a confused man with an emaciated political career.

“His emaciated political relevance has driven him into reckless rhetoric and divisive politicking, all in a futile attempt to revive his presidential ambitions. His recent utterances and actions are a clear indication of his disconnect from the aspirations of the Nigerian people. He has become a divisive figure, attempting to pit the North against the rest of the country for his personal gain.

“Indeed, it is disheartening that leaders entrusted with the responsibility of creating unity and development have instead chosen the path of betrayal and self-interest. Their antics are a betrayal of trust, not only to the North but to the entire nation.

“They are pursuing a divide and rule strategy that is antithetical to the spirit of unity and progress that Nigeria desperately needs. Let us be clear: these leaders are not speaking for the North, they are only serving their selfish agendas.

“Nevertheless, the Arewa Youth Leaders and Professionals Forum firmly stands with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration’s economic reforms. These reforms, though admittedly challenging in the short term, are necessary steps to reposition Nigeria for growth, development, and progress.

“However, it is evident that those opposing these reforms are individuals who have been beneficiaries of the flawed systems of past administrations. From subsidy removal to tax reforms. President Tinubu’s policies are aimed at correcting the ills of the past, ills that have kept us bound to a cycle of corruption and underdevelopment.

“Yet, these so-called northern leaders who cry foul at the mention of change, are angry because these changes threaten their stomach infrastructure and the corrupt privileges they have enjoyed. Indeed, Governor Bala Mohammed and Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’s positions are not representative of the true voices of the North.

“The North is a region built on principles of fairness, justice, and patriotism. The North supports reforms that uplift the nation, even if they require sacrifices. Perhaps, it is time to question the motives of these so-called northern leaders. Are they truly concerned about the welfare of the masses, or are they merely seeking to protect their personal interests? Their actions suggest the latter.

“Evidently, these leaders have chosen to exploit the challenges that come with reforms to sow discord and manipulate public sentiment. This divide-and-rule strategy is not new, but it is one that we, as Arewa youths and professionals, reject outrightly.

“Nevertheless, we acknowledge that President Tinubu’s reforms come with short-term inconveniences. Change is never easy, especially when it disrupts the norm that everyone is accustomed to. However, the long-term benefits of these reforms far outweigh the temporary discomfort“.
